Miyoo Mini (Plus) – Fixing a wobbly battery

With the mass production of Miyoo Mini Plus and the popularity of the original 2.8″ Miyoo Mini a lot of people are getting their hands on this device. A common issue with these (both the original and plus) is a wobbly or loose battery. If you give it a shake you might hear and feel the battery moving inside the shell.

Shells differ from a manufacturing point of view and the battery might fit more snuggly with certain production batches. If you’re unlucky you might get a device suffering from this (not so big) issue.

Rest assure, there is a simple mod for this.

What you need

All you need is your device, some electrical tape, a pair of scissors and a couple of minutes of your time. Make sure your Miyoo is completely shut off before you begin.

Instructions

Start by removing the battery cover on the backside of the device and then carefully put the battery to the side.

Cut two small pieces of electrical tape with a pair of scissors – each about 1 inch long for the Miyoo Mini Plus (this will be bit smaller for the original).

Apply them at the bottom of the battery compartment as shown on the picture below.

Cut one more piece of electrical tape, about 3 inches long and then cut it in half. You will need to fit this on the top inner wall of the battery compartment as shown in the next picture.

Carefully put the battery back inside and close the lid. Make sure not to accidentally disconnect the battery cord from the motherboard.

Give the device a gentle shake to see if the battery is flush – if not you might need to add another layer of electrical tape. Keep adding layers until the battery’s not rattling inside the device anymore.
